Plenary and Workshop Descriptions

Opening Plenary Session

The opening plenary session includes a panel discussion featuring Michelle Bernard, who is the president and CEO of Independent Women's Forum, MSNBC political analyst, a regular panelist with Hardball with Chris Matthewsand the McLaughlin Group, and host of CBS radio's The Big Talker on Philadelphia's WPHT; and Barbara Ferris, who is the founder and president of International Women's Democracy Center, with offices in Ohio, Botswana,Northern Ireland, and Tajikistan.  The panel discussion will be moderated by Xi Omega Chapter member Ambassador Mattie Sharpless who is an Independent Consultant/Advisor in international trade affairs and a member of the Trade Advisory Committee on Africa.

Closing Plenary, Awards Ceremony, and Afternoon Tea

The closing plenary session will reflect on the discussions and accomplishments of the day.  Awards will be given to Dr. Verna S. Cook, Ms. Denice Whalen-White, and Ms. Sophia Nelson for their outstanding commitment to improving the lives of women and girls around the world.  There will also be mother/daughter panel discussion entitled: 

“Like Mother Like Daughter: She Gets it From Her Mama”

Mothers and daughters share the secrets of the bonds of their relationships, why it is not always easy, and how to remain close through the years.
